-
- Export 3.2:
-
- - New Features -
-
- • Node Alias option for Netmail
- • More information in Export.Error if something goes wrong.
- • MESSAGES location problem fixed, for non-shared setups
- • Tabby Version Number, located in TabbyNet (TABY) Resource
- Export expects to see a file called TabbyNet, but will run
- if you do modify TabbyNet's name. Rule of Thumb, TabbyNet
- should never have a name change.
-
- Node Alias - This option is for use with NetMail. If you enter
- a netmail message and when you are asked for the node number say
- you don't remember, but you know it goes to Mark's system. You
- could type in MARK as the node address and continue with your message
- As export runs it looks for a file Called ExAKA Nodes and loads it
- into memory. It then compares Nodes address of exported messages
- against this ExAKA Nodes list. If it finds an identifier of MARK
- in the ExAKA Nodes list then it will replace MARK with the correct
- node 382/54. Format for the ExAKA Nodes file:
-
- Mark:382/54<cr>
- Aurora Borealis:226/200<cr>
- MacExchange:1:343/49<cr>
- AlterNet:6:xxx/yyy.pp
- •••
- •• and so on. Up to 100 such aliases may be used.
-
- {Identifier:Node}
-
- The Key separator is the first colon : that is encountered
- immediately after the identifier. Only rule is identifiers
- can not contain a colon in the name.
-
- <cr> indicates a carriage return after each line.
-
- Location and Name of ExAKA Nodes file can be modified, by changing the
- 1259 STR in Export 3.x. Full pathnames may be specified as long
- as they do not exceed 32 characters in length.

- Export is one of three echo mail utilities designed to interface Tabby
- 2.x with Second Session (RRH) 2.x. The other two utilities are Import
- and Sundial.
-
- Export handles outbound echo mail on your system. It looks for new
- local and private network messages entered in your message base and
- exports them to a specially formatted Tabby Generic Export file. The
- Generic Export file is what Tabby looks at when it processes outbound
- echo mail.
-
- Export expects to find a file called "Generic" in the same folder as
- itself. "Generic" should be a text file containing the pathname to
- where Tabby expects to find the Generic Import and Generic Export files.
- ("Generic" is a file created by the Tabby Maintenance Program).
-
- To configure Export 3.x double click and hold down the mouse key as it
- launches.
-
- Options Available:
-
- • Point Message Support†
- • Process all Messages†
- • Delete NetMail as Processed
- • Notify Sysop of Export†
- • Summary of Last 5 Exports†
- • Append Origin to Netmail
- • Append Signature to Echomail†
- • Turn Log on/off
- • Use Short/Long Reports
- • Node Alias for Netmail†
- • Use Generic Echoes/Seenby.bbs files†
- • Erase/Append to Log† † - New in 3.x version
-
-
- Step 1:
-
- You need to enter you BBS name in the EDIT FIELD labeled "BBS Name" If
- you are not sure the name of you BBS application click on the BUTTON
- with the check "√" at the end of the BBS Name line. IF you clicked on
- the BUTTON this will bring up a dialog box. Find your BBS application
- and double click or open it.
-
- Step 2:
-
- If you typed in the BBS name then you can either type in the partial
- pathname to where your BBS application is located or click in the BUTTON
- with the check "√" at the end of the BBS Folder line. If you clicked on
- the BUTTON this will bring up a dialog box. Find your BBS application
- and double click or open it. Note this path must end in a colon ":".
-
- Step 3:
-
- If you plan to activate reports you will need to select where you want
- the reports to go. Either enter the complete pathname to the text file
- you wish the reports to go or click on the BUTTON with the check "√" at
- the end of the Report Log line. If you clicked on the BUTTON this will
- bring up a dialog box. Find the text file where you want the reports to
- go and double click or open the file.
-
- Step 4:
-
- You need to enter the last message processed. If this is the first time
- you are running Export then make this number 0 (Zero). Otherwise enter
- the number or click on the BUTTON with the check at the end of the Last
- Msg # line. If you clicked on the BUTTON this will bring up a dialog
- box. Find your MESSAGES file and double click or open it. This will
- determine the high message number for you automatically.
-
- Step 5:
-
- Enter your Netmail message area number into the Netmail Area EDIT FIELD.
- This is the number of your private Netmail area. Be sure you have
- configured Second Session (RRH) so it has one Netmail area.
-
-
- •••••••• Options ••••••••
-
- Process all Msgs:
-
- If you check this option, then export will process all messages every
- time it runs. If this option is not checked then only new messages,
- based on last high message will be scanned. Both methods are extremely
- fast. But, as you might guessed the second (non checked) method is a
- wee-bit faster.
-
- Delete Netmail:
-
- If you check this option then any Netmail (from the area in step 5) will
- be marked for deletion after it has been exported. This will keep old
- private netmail messages, that no are longer needed , from cluttering up
- the message base.
-
- Notify Sysop:
-
- If this is checked then a small export report, similar to the Report
- Log, will be written to the Generic Import file and will be delivered to
- you as a Netmail message next time Import is run.
-
- Append Origin/Netmail:
-
- If this option is check then any outbound Netmail messages will have
- your origin line appended to the end. Just like echomail does.
-
- Append Signature/Echomail:
-
- If this option is checked then every outgoing echomail message will have
- up to 10 signature lines appended to the end. To configure the
- signature lines, click on the Configure Signature BUTTON. This will
- bring up a new window with 10 EDIT FIELDS. Fill in the lines with
- whatever you want your signature to be (like the UseNets). If you wish a
- line to be skipped then enter the word NONE and that line will be
- ignored by Export.
-
- Activate Log:
-
- If this option is check it will activate the Report Log (defined in Step
- 3).
-
- Use Full Stats:
-
- If this option is checked then a full report will be written to the
- Report Log. If it is not checked then a short report will be written to
- the Report log. The short report conforms to the Tabby log format, if
- you wish to write the report directly to your Tabby Log.
-
- Erase Log:
-
- If this option is checked then the report will be erased before a new
- report is written to the disk. Otherwise, the report will be appended
- to the end of the text file (specified in Step 3).
-
- Generic Echoes: (use Generic Echoes/Seenby.bbs files)
-
- If this option is checked then Export 3.x will dump all exported
- messages directly into the Generic Echoes and Seenby.bbs files. The
- purpose of this is to reduce the amount of work Tabby 2.x has to do,
- when it process outgoing mail. It also reduces the size of the Export
- file used by Tabby. A lot of duplication is removed, freeing Tabby up
- so it has to search and process less to export messages to the final
- destinations. If this option is not selected then Export 3.x will
- behave just like the older Pre 3.0 versions. - All exported messages
- will go into the Generic Export file.
-
- Node Alias for Netmail:
-
- This option allows you to refer to a given node, by some other
- identifier. Export 3.x will read a TEXT file called 'ExAKA Nodes'.
- This file has the following format.
-
- identifier:node# (Aurora:1:226/200)
-
- The separator here is the colon ':'. The identifier to the left of the
- colon is any combination of characters that you wish to refer to the
- node as. The node# to the right of the colon is the actual node number
- that this identifier corresponds to. The identifier can be up to 32
- characters long and the node# up to 11 characters long. Each line in
- the text file has to be followed by a <CR>. (See Sample ExAKA Nodes
- file). To Change the ExAKA Nodes file name or location, modify STR 1259
- - Full pathnames may be specified, otherwise the current BBS Folder is
- considered the default location. Up to 100 Alias may be used.
-
- Once you have everything, just the way you want, click on the Save
- BUTTON.
-
- Now you will have to add Export to your Tabby chain. You should place
- if before TabbyNet SendNews in your Tabby Robot STR 301 and TabbyNet
- STR 305 as well as in all your scheduled events.
